CONSTRUCTION FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES- Strong Missions constructs and remodels classrooms and additional structures in schools and churches, creates playgrounds and gardens, builds wheelchair ramps and rails, and paints buildings and murals in orphanages, rural and special needs schools. During such work there is ample opportunity for teams to spend time with children, teaching VBS, doing crafts, or just playing, which is often as important as the construction itself. Strong Missions also constructs new homes and repairs existing homes for poor families. A suitable 3-bedroom home, without luxuries, costs approximately $12,000 in materials, labor and permits. A two-bedroom house costs approximately $10,500. Depending on the amount of land preparation (leveling, retaining walls, etc.), a house could cost an additional $2000. Church construction, repair and remodeling happens so that existing churches have adequate space for worship, education, fellowship, and especially community outreach. Such projects in 2011 and after include work in the Pentecostal and Methodist Churches in Carrillos de Poas, creating space to feed 100 needy children at each site, as well as community playground installation, home construction for various needy families, and the building of a dormitory at the Bethlehem Inn (Posada de Belen-teenage mothers' home). FEEDING AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS, EDUCATIONAL GRANTS, ETC.- Since 2007 Strong Missions has worked with the Evangelical Methodist Church in Los Guido of Desamparados to both feed and educate children living in this high at-risk neighborhood of San Jose. Although the quality of nutrition has risen in recent years, financially we're still only able to feed 50 students per day at this time. We are also educating 58 students there at this time through an education center we've also begun within the Methodist Church, although we need funding for the years to come. In addition we have started other feeding programs in Carrillos de Poas over the summer months (here it's December & January) when kids do not have school meals to depend on, and we are in communication with various other churches interested in beginning new feeding programs in various parts of the country. As of November 2011 we are adding two new additional education centers in the Methodist Churches in Palmares and Alajuela. We also plan to assist 15 students in the public school system with yearly scholarships, allowing their families to continue their education and not allow, or need, them to drop out early to raise money for the household.

ALLIANCE ORGANIZATIONS, MEDICAL AND DENTAL TEAMS, DISTRIBUTION OF DONATIONS, ETC. Strong Missions works in conjunction with various organizations and individuals in order to organize both teams and donations. These include the Evangelical Methodist Church of Costa Rica, led by Bishop Fernando Palomo and his district superintendents, the Assembly of God Church, La Posada de Belen (teenage mothers' home), and the govt. of Costa Rica, and we're always looking for connections with other organizations that can assist us in our work here in Costa Rica. We now are happy to add medical and dental teams to our many ministries. Check the new page on this website for more info regarding medical and dental teams (STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION).

Monetary donations are accepted and distributed by Strong Missions to provide for such programs, and in addition we often receive medical equipment, clothing, school and church school materials, books, first aid and hygiene products, toys, etc. Such donations are distributed in various areas of the country by Strong Missions using area pastors and school and orphanage directors to make sure they get into the most deserving hands.
